Vijay’s Jana Nayagan moves closer to release after CBFC review

Actor and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s film Jana Nayagan is moving toward release after the Central Board of Film Certification completed its latest review and communicated a fresh set of edits to the producers.

According to reports, the production team plans to complete the required revisions and dubbing work shortly, with the film targeting a theatrical release in late July or early August. The movie is expected to receive an A certificate.

KVN Productions confirmed that the project remains on schedule for a release during the final week of July or the opening week of August.

Originally planned for a Pongal release earlier this year, Jana Nayagan faced delays after the CBFC, despite an initial recommendation for a U/A certificate with modifications, referred the film to a revising committee following complaints regarding certain scenes.

The film also encountered a security setback when portions were leaked online during the certification process. Tamil Nadu’s Cyber Crime Wing later arrested multiple individuals as part of its investigation into the leak.

The delay coincided with Vijay’s transition into active politics, culminating in his party forming the government in Tamil Nadu following the state elections.
