Vijay Sethupathi’s Laabam to release 9 September
Vijay Sethupathi took to Twitter to announce that his next film, Laabam, will release in theatres on 9 September.
Directed by SP Jananathan, Laabam is a socio-political thriller.
Though there was speculation that the film will release on an OTT platform, Vijay quashed these rumours and said that Laabam will only release in theatres.
Shruti Haasan plays the female lead in the film.
The film went on floors in 2020 and the makers were keen to release it in theatres in May, 2020. However, it was postponed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
On March 14, director SP Jananathan died in Chennai after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 61. Before he was found unconscious, he was overseeing the editing of Laabam.
