TN government to probe Sasikala and Vijayabaskar

Following the discussions in State cabinet meeting, the State government on Monday announced that based on the recommendations of Justice Arumugasamy commission, action is likely to be taken on VK Sasikala, aide of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, former Health Minister C Vijayabaskar, former Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao and Jayalalithaa’s personal physician Dr Sivakumar.

“The report of Arumugasamy commission which was submitted to the State government on August 27, was discussed in detail in the Cabinet meeting and it was decided to get the opinion of legal experts, to take action on Sasikala, Vijayabaskar, Rama Mohana Rao and Sivakumar and to table the report on the State Assembly along with the action taken report,” said the State government, in a press communique.

The report of Justice Aruna Jagadeesan commission which probed into the infamous Thoothukudi police firing during the Sterlite protests was also discussed in detail in the Cabinet meeting. “Based on the report of Aruna Jagadeesan commission, departmental action has been recommended on 17 policemen and 4 officials, including Thoothukudi district Collector, and the status of the recommendation was discussed in the cabinet meeting. The cabinet has decided to table the report of the Aruna Jagadeesan commission along with the action taken report in the State Assembly,” it said.
