Suriya’s Karuppu set for OTT premiere after strong box-office run
The digital release of Suriya’s blockbuster fantasy action film Karuppu has been officially confirmed, giving audiences an opportunity to watch the film from home after its successful theatrical run.
The film, which hit theatres in May, emerged as one of the year’s biggest Tamil releases, earning widespread attention for its blend of action, fantasy and folklore-inspired storytelling. Following weeks of strong box-office performance, the makers have now locked its OTT debut.
According to the official announcement, Karuppu will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video from June 12. The film will be available in Tamil, with dubbed versions in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada also expected to be accessible for viewers across multiple regions.
Directed by RJ Balaji, the film stars Suriya in the lead role alongside Trisha Krishnan. The cast also includes RJ Balaji, Swasika, Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Sshivada and several other prominent actors. The story combines elements of fantasy and social drama, with Suriya portraying a character drawn into a larger battle against injustice.
Karuppu opened to impressive collections upon release and continued to attract audiences during its theatrical run. Trade reports indicate that the film crossed the ₹300-crore mark worldwide, cementing its position among the most successful Tamil films of the year.
