Vijay Antony-Swasika’s Nooru Sami trailer promises an emotional journey of a single mother

The makers of Nooru Saami on Monday released the film’s trailer, offering a glimpse into an emotionally driven story centred on a mother’s relationship with her children. Directed by Sasi, the film features Vijay Antony in the lead and marks his first collaboration with the filmmaker in a decade after their successful outing Pichaikkaran.

The trailer introduces Selvi, played by Swasika, a woman raising her two sons on her own. While she is portrayed as a dedicated mother who prioritises her children’s well-being above everything else, the preview also hints at the personal aspirations she has been forced to suppress. Social expectations and family pressures appear to stand in the way of her ambitions, setting up a conflict between responsibility and self-fulfilment.

A key message highlighted in the trailer suggests a shift in perspective from glorifying motherhood to understanding the individual behind the role. As the story unfolds, Selvi’s decision to pursue her own path seems poised to become a turning point in the narrative.

Apart from Vijay Antony and Swasika, the film features Lijomol Jose and Ajay Dhishan in significant roles. The ensemble cast also includes Balaji Sakthivel, Munishkanth, Aruldoss, Jenson Dhivakar, Padine Kumar, Bagavathi Perumal, Thamarai, Vinodhini, Muthualagi, Kodangi Vadivelu, Saratha, Abinaya, Sabitha Roy, Moorthy, Subramania Siva, Sakthi and Kavya Anil, among others.

According to the makers, the film draws inspiration from a real-life incident and explores themes of sacrifice, relationships and resilience. The title Nooru Saami is borrowed from a popular song featured in Pichaikkaran.

The film’s technical crew includes composer Balaji Sriram, cinematographer SB Darshan Kirlosh and editor Harish Yuvaraj. Produced by Fatima Vijay Antony and Vijay Antony under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner, Nooru Saami is scheduled to hit theatres on June 19. With its focus on family relationships and a mother’s emotional journey, the film promises a story that examines both the burdens and aspirations of parenthood.
