Rishikanth says Rajinikanth comparisons are flattering but wants his own identity
The success of Modha Rathri has brought considerable attention to actor Rishikanth, with viewers drawing comparisons between his screen presence and that of Superstar Rajinikanth.
Fans have particularly pointed to similarities in mannerisms associated with Rajinikanth’s earlier films, including Mullum Malarum and Johnny.
Addressing the comparisons in an interview with Cinema Express, Rishikanth said he has become increasingly aware of the parallels. While he acknowledged that the comparison is pleasing, he stressed that he ultimately wants audiences to recognise him for his own work.
The actor also observed that Rajinikanth often becomes the reference point when audiences compare performers, given his enduring influence on Tamil cinema.
Rishikanth discussed the subject again in an interview with PROVOKE TV, where he was asked whether he would consider appearing in a film based on Rajinikanth’s life and career.
He responded that he had only just begun his own journey, while Rajinikanth had achieved much more over a long career. Rishikanth said he appreciated the comparisons but wanted to establish an identity of his own.
After Modha Rathri, the actor appears in filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj’s Dorothy. He plays a close friend of Sananth’s character, while Keerthy Suresh also has an important role in the film.
