Rise in COVID-19 cases under watch, experts advise caution without panic

A recent increase in COVID-19 infections in parts of India, particularly in Andhra Pradesh, has drawn public attention. Health experts, however, say the current situation is very different from the large-scale outbreaks experienced during the pandemic.

Officials have reported a limited rise in infections along with a few COVID-19-related deaths in Andhra Pradesh. In response, the state has strengthened surveillance, testing and hospital preparedness.

Similar increases have been observed in a few other regions, but the spread remains localised rather than nationwide. Hospitals have not reported a significant surge in admissions, and severe illness continues to be relatively limited.

Medical professionals note that COVID-19 is now considered an endemic disease and recommend continued vigilance, especially among vulnerable groups, while avoiding unnecessary panic.
