Prime Minister Modi delays airport departure to avoid inconvenience for NEET candidates
Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained at Delhi Airport for a short period on Sunday to ensure that students travelling for the NEET-UG re-examination were not affected by traffic restrictions associated with his movement.
According to reports, the Prime Minister arrived at the airport at approximately 1:15 p.m. As the nationwide medical entrance re-examination was scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., he chose not to immediately proceed to his residence.
Officials explained that the decision was intended to minimize disruptions on city roads during a crucial period when large numbers of candidates were heading to examination centres across the capital.
The movement of high-security convoys typically requires traffic regulation measures along designated routes. By postponing his departure until after the examination had commenced, authorities sought to ensure smoother travel conditions for students and their families.
Following the start of the examination at 2 p.m., the Prime Minister departed the airport and continued to his residence.
The NEET-UG re-examination is being conducted under heightened security protocols following concerns raised over alleged irregularities in an earlier edition of the test.
The National Testing Agency has implemented an extensive monitoring system for the examination, which is being held at thousands of centres across India and selected overseas locations.
Security arrangements include large-scale CCTV surveillance, AI-assisted monitoring systems, signal-jamming equipment to prevent electronic malpractice, biometric verification procedures, frisking teams, observers and specialized technical personnel stationed at examination centres.
Authorities stated that the enhanced measures are aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness and the smooth conduct of one of the country’s largest entrance examinations.
