PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi congratulate TVK leader Vijay
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi congratulated Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s (TVK) Vijay for the stellar debut in the Tamil Nadu elections.
PM Modi in a post on X wrote: “Gratitude to the voters of Tamil Nadu who supported the NDA in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections. We will always remain at the forefront in addressing people’s issues and improving their lives. Congratulations to TVK on their impressive performance. The Centre will leave no stone unturned in furthering the progress of Tamil Nadu and the well-being of their people.”
Gandhi, in a post on X, said, “I spoke to Thiru Vijay and congratulated him on TVK’s spectacular result. My heartfelt thanks to the Congress workers of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for their hard work and support. I reiterate that the Congress party will continue to protect and serve the people of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.”
“This evening, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri @RahulGandhi spoke to Mamata Banerjee-ji and Thiru MK Stalin about the election results. He also congratulated the President of the TVK Thiru Vijay on the party’s performance,” said Congress’s Jairam Ramesh on X.
With results of Tamil Nadu assembly polls showing that Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam led by actor-turned-politician Vijay will fall short a few seats from majority in the 234-member assembly, AICC In-charge Tamil Nadu, Girish Chodankar said on Monday that he has given a report to Congress leadership and they will “take a call on Tamil Nadu”.
The Congress, which fought the assembly polls as part of the DMK-led coalition, is poised to win five seats in Tamil Nadu. Chodankar said youth and women voted for TVK in large numbers.
“The people of Tamil Nadu, they voted for a change. Especially the youngsters and women have moved towards TVK and that’s why TVK is getting such large numbers. I have already submitted a report to our Congress President, Kharge ji, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul ji, and General Secretary of the Organisation Venugopal ji. All of them will take a call on what to do in Tamil Nadu,” he told.
