Pakistan Army helicopter crashes in PoK, all personnel on board killed

A Pakistan Army helicopter crashed near Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday, reportedly due to a technical malfunction, according to a statement issued by the military.

The aircraft, identified as an Mi-17 helicopter operated by the Pakistan Army Aviation wing, went down shortly after take-off. Military officials said the crash occurred because of a technical fault.

In its statement, the military confirmed that all individuals aboard the helicopter lost their lives in the accident. However, authorities did not disclose the exact number of personnel who were on board at the time of the crash.

The incident comes amid heightened security measures in and around Muzaffarabad. The increased deployment follows announcements by members of a protest movement who indicated plans to stage demonstrations after the regional administration imposed a ban on the group under anti-terrorism legislation.

Further details regarding the crash and the identities of those killed were not immediately available.
