Maaran movie review

Story:

Dhanush is a righteous journalist inspired by his dad. He will only report the truth. It leads to him getting removed from many places.

While the work is on one side, Dhanush also has a sister whom he dotes on.

A shocking incident turns his life upside down.

What is it and how does it changes Dhanush’s life forms the rest of the story.

Analysis:

Director by Karthik Naren, the movie is based on sister sentiment with journalism as the film’s backdrop.

Karthik Naren has managed to keep the melodrama to a bare minimum which is one of the positives of the film.

However, the story and screenplay could have been better. The movie does not created the intended impact.

Performance wise Dhanush has delivered what the script demanded, but it was not upto the standards that he had already set.

Malavikka Mohanan does not have much to do. Smruthi Venkat gets a significant role and makes full use of the opportunity.

Ramki is impressive in the little screentime that he gets. Background score by G V Prakash is good.

Vivekanand Santhosham’s camerawork is impressive. Editing by Prasanna GK Could have been crisp.

Rating: 3.2/5
