Maamannan movie review

Story:

Vadivelu is a MLA from Kasipuram who is from an oppressed community.

He lives with his wife and son Udhayanidhi Stalin but Vadivelu and Udhayanidhi do not speak to each other for ten years.

On the other hand, Fahadh Faasil is a strong leader in the political party of Vadivelu who is rich and doesn’t like to see the growth of anyone coming from the lower community.

The story takes a turn when Fahadh disrespects Vadivelu which leads to big political and caste discrimination conflicts.

Analysis:

Director Maari Selvaraj has balanced and writing and direction in an effective manner.

The first half has a gripping screenplay, while the second half follows the routine political drama.

Vadivelu, as a MLA and as a man who fights oppression has delivered his best.

Vadivelu’s character easily stands out among all, the veteran actor portrays the titular role effortlessly.

It’s a treat to watch him emote helplessness, warmth, repentance, calmness, and courage.

Fahadh’s menacing depiction of the antagonist is another attraction of the movie. He stands out as the antagonist.

Udhayanidhi Stalin has got a performance oriented role and has done complete justice to it.

Keerthy Suresh gets to play a major role in the movie and she shine with her performance as well.

Rest of the cast including Laal have delivered what was expected from them.

A.R. Rahman’s background music is top-notch as it expresses the anger and pain within a man who is oppressed by societal norms.

Cinematographer Theni Eswar’s visuals are appealing.
