Lokesh Kanagaraj and GV Prakash films postponed to avoid clash with Vijay’s Jana Nayagan
Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is making his acting debut alongside Wamiqa Gabbi in the upcoming film DC. The film has received an A certificate from the CBFC, and its release has been postponed by a week to avoid competing with Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.
Originally scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, DC will now arrive later after the announcement that Jana Nayagan is set for release on July 23.
The recently released trailer showcases director Arun Matheswaran’s signature visual style, featuring monochrome imagery, stylised action sequences and an intense narrative tone.
Meanwhile, actor and music composer GV Prakash Kumar has also postponed the release of his film Immortal to avoid a box-office clash with Jana Nayagan.
The film will now release on September 4, allowing Vijay’s film an uninterrupted theatrical run during its initial weeks.
Announcing the revised schedule, GV Prakash extended his best wishes to Vijay and the entire Jana Nayagan team. His gesture was widely appreciated by fans on social media, who viewed it as an example of professional goodwill within the industry.
The makers expressed confidence that the new release date would provide Immortal with a stronger opportunity to connect with audiences.
