Indian women clinch Asian Games cricket gold as PM Modi hails historic triumph
India’s women’s cricket team has secured gold at the Asian Games after defeating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final at Nisshin, Japan.
The victory marked India’s second consecutive gold medal in women’s cricket at the continental competition. The result also gave India its first gold medal of the current edition of the Games.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team, praising the players for their confidence, skill and teamwork.
He said the achievement had made the country proud and would encourage young cricketers across India to pursue the sport.
Modi also extended his best wishes to the entire squad following the team’s commanding performance in the final.
