Indian 2 movie review

Story:

Siddharth and his three friends run a YouTube channel called ‘Barking Dogs,’ which focuses on parodies and political satire.

After realising that their videos, despite receiving lakhs of views, had little impact on the audience, the team starts a campaign called ‘Come Back Indian.’

They feel that only Indian Thatha, aka Senapathy, could put an end to corruption.

Seeing the trend pick up on social media, Indian thatha makes a comeback. This time, he punishes corrupt individuals in Gujarat, Odisha, and other parts of the country.

Indian thatha urges his followers to embrace Gandhian ideology and expose corrupt individuals while he continues to uphold Netaji’s ideals. However, this decision soon backfires. What happens next forms the crux of the story.

Analysis:

Director Shankar is well aware of his craft and has tried out some new experiments in the movie which has worked out well.

While ‘Indian’ was a one man show, Shankar has adapted to the changing times and has used social media as a weapon thus influencing the youth.

The entire plot is more of a mirror of the present times.

The fast-paced scenes and twists in the second half keeps the momentum of the movie intact.

Kamal Haasan delivers a strong performance as always. He dons various getups throughout the movie and is super convincing in every one of them. His portions during stunt sequences are top notch.

Siddharth has a very meaty role and matches up with Kamal performance in the scenes that they appear together.

Rakul Preet Singh and Priya Bhavani Shankar have been given some impactful dialogues, though their screen time is not too much.

Rest of the cast including Kalidas Jayaram, SJ Suryah have all done what was expected from them.

Anirudh’s BGM is fresh and he has infused some BGM from the original as well.

Ravi Varman’s camerawork has captured the proceedings in a neat manner.

Rest of the technical aspects of the movie are good as well.

Rating: 4.8/5
