Good films take time: Ashok Selvan
Ashok Selvan’s next Tamil film, Anbil Avan, was officially launched on Wednesday with the unveiling of its title teaser. The film stars Preity Mukhundhan opposite Selvan and is directed by debutant R Kaarthikeyan.
Speaking at the launch, Selvan explained that he had deliberately taken his time before choosing his next project following the release of Blue Star.
The actor said he had frequently been asked about his next film, including by his own family, but he did not want to sign a project simply to remain visible in the industry. For him, a strong script was more important than maintaining a regular release schedule.
Selvan said the long gap had also allowed him to observe changes in the way audiences and the industry respond to screenplays. He expressed confidence that Anbil Avan would live up to the expectations created by his previous script choices.
Kaarthikeyan has written the screenplay along with Vignesh Raja and Ashok Selvan, while Ashameera Aiyappan has contributed additional screenplay work.
The teaser suggests that the story revolves around a newly married couple whose relationship is tested by unexpected and extraordinary circumstances.
The supporting cast includes Sabumon Abdusamad, Kadirbalu and Maha Delhi Ganesh. Govind Vasantha is composing the music, while Kaarthikeyan has penned the lyrics. Gowtham Rajendran is the cinematographer, Selva RK is handling editing, Manikandan Srinivasan is the art director and Peter Hein is the action choreographer.
