Don movie review

Story:

Sivakarthikeyan is the son of Samuthirakani, a strict father. Samuthirakani forces Sivakarthikeyan to take up engineering.

Left with no other options Sivakarthikeyan too joins a college and has fun there.

However, Siva’s fun life comes to a halt after he confronts the college’s discipline committee head played by S J Suryah.

What happens after this, did Sivakarthikeyan complete his studies, What happens between Samuthirakani and Sivakarthikeyan forms the rest of the story.

Analysis:

Director Cibi Chakravarthy has presented the life in a college as close to reality. He is also very much self-aware of the proceedings.

Though there are several commercial elements, they do not go over board. While the first half is a complete fun package, the second half is loaded with emotional content.

Sivakarthikeyan gets better with each movie and this is no exception. Be it the fun-filled college portions in the first half or the emotional second half, he has carried the entire movie on his shoulder.

S J Suryah has once again delivered a powerful performance and is a crowd please.

Priyanka Arul Mohan does her job in a satisfying manner. Samuthirakani is apt as the strict father. Rest of the cast have also done their part well. Anirudh’s songs and BGM are top notch.
