Buffoon movie review
Story:
Drama artists Vaibhav and Athangudi Ilayaraja who play buffoons in street plays decide to go abroad to earn more money.
They join as drivers to a drug lord to earn money to go abroad. One day Dhanapal asks them to deliver salt to a particular location.
However, during police checking they come to know that the lorry was carrying drugs.
What Vaibhav and Ilayaraja did after that. How did they get caught and who are behind the drug cartel forms the rest of the story.
Analysis:
Director Ashok Veerappan has took several contemporary issue, such as the life of theatre artists, Sri Lankan refugees and delivers it in a convincing manner.
Ashok also touches upon the politics. The story and the setting is very realistic and instantly connects with the audience.
Vaibhav as a young man who gets caught in problems not related to him is convincing.
Athangudi Ilayaraja gets a meaty role and is impressive.
The friendship between Vaibhav and Athangudi Ilayaraja is one of the major highlights of the film.
Anagha comes a refugee from Sri Lanka and delivers a decent performance in the limited screen space that she gets.
Rest of the cast including Tamilarasan, Adukalam Naren, and Jayapalan have all done their part well. Santhosh Narayanan’s music elevates the theme of the movie.
Cinematography by Dinesh Purushothaman has captured the coastal location in a beautiful manner.
