Ban on drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles in Chennai ahead of Modi’s visit
In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on Thursday, May 26, the Chennai City Police Commissioner has imposed a ban on drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles in the city limits.
PM Modi will be in Chennai to participate in the inauguration of 1,152 houses, constructed as part of the Light House Project at a cost of Rs 116 crore under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban.
PM Modi would lay the foundation stone of a multi-modal logistics park in Chennai, to be set up at Rs 1,400 crore. He would also lay the foundation stone of six projects being built at a cost of over Rs 28,500 crore.
The Light House project utilised the best of new-age global technologies, materials and processes in the construction sector for the first time in India on such a large scale, according to the government. This project makes use of the precast concrete construction system as used in the US and Finland.
This will be PM Modi’s first visit since the DMK government under Chief Minister MK Stalin assumed office in 2021.
Earlier, the prime minister had laid the foundation stone of Light House Projects in six regions in the country last year.
