Ayushman Vay Vandana Scheme Hits 10 Lakh Enrolments in Just Three Weeks
In a significant achievement, more than 10 lakh senior citizens aged 70 and above have enrolled for the newly launched Ayushman Vay Vandana Card, offering them access to free healthcare benefits under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. This milestone comes just three weeks after the card was rolled out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 29, 2024. Of the total enrolments, nearly 4 lakh are women.
Since its launch, over ₹9 crore worth of treatments have been authorized under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card, benefiting more than 4,800 senior citizens, including over 1,400 women. These treatments cover a wide range of medical conditions, including coronary angioplasty, hip replacements, cataract surgeries, gallbladder removals, prostate resection, and stroke care.
In Tamil Nadu, where the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card was introduced last week by former Telangana and Puducherry Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundarrajan, over 24,000 cards have already been distributed.
