Ashtakarma movie review

Story:

Psychiatrist Kishan has no faith in demons or devils. He participates in a debate on TV about the presence of ghosts.

Kishan argues that there is no such thing as a ghost. One of the conjurers who is part of the discussion, challenges Kishan to stay in a haunted house for one day.

Kishan accepts the challenge and asks the owner for permission to stay in the house. The family, who had already moved house due to the haunting, refused to allow Kishan to stay in the house.

The sorcerer tells Kishan that misfortunes happen in that particular house because of a evil ritual.

What happens next forms the rest of the story.

Analysis:
Director  Vijay Tamilselvan has created a horror film that is actually scary.
Though it is a horror story, the whole concept is based on Karma. Vijay has conveyed his vision clearly.
The movie is void of cliched jump scares and loud BGM. Instead the gripping writing keeps the audience on the edge of their seat.
When the suspense of who the perpetrators are breaks down, it is sure to shock the audience. CS Kishan is making his debut as a hero.
Instead of trying any heroics, he has delivered what the story required.
Nandhini Rai and Shradha as the female leads have done their job well.
L V Muthuganesh’s BGM is top notch. R B Gurudev’s camerawork is impressive.
