Amit Shah’s Tamil Nadu and Puducherry tour: Security tightened ahead of two-day visit
Extensive security arrangements have been put in place ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s scheduled visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry this weekend. Officials said a comprehensive review has been completed to ensure smooth conduct of the two-day programme.
Shah is expected to arrive in Tamil Nadu on August 8 before travelling to Puducherry the following day to participate in a series of official, cultural and public events.
During his visit to Tiruvannamalai on Saturday, the Home Minister will offer prayers at the Sri Ramana Maharshi Ashram before proceeding to the Arunachaleswarar Temple, where he is scheduled to participate in religious rituals.
On Sunday, Shah will attend the ceremonial presentation of the President’s Colour to the Puducherry Police, a prestigious honour recognising the force’s distinguished service. The event will take place at the Puducherry Police Ground.
Later in the day, he is slated to launch the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra’ at Murugaa Theatre Signal as part of the nationwide campaign promoting the national flag.
Authorities have implemented elaborate security measures across both Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in view of the Home Minister’s visit. A Central security team recently inspected the venues, travel routes and logistical arrangements while coordinating with local agencies to finalise the operational plan.
Given Shah’s Z-plus security cover, personnel from the National Security Guard, Central agencies and state police have established a multi-tier security network around all scheduled locations.
Officials also conducted a high-level coordination meeting at Puducherry Airport earlier this week, bringing together representatives from various departments to review security protocols and ensure all arrangements are in place before the minister’s arrival.
