Actor Prithvi Ready to Bowl Over Audiences in Blue Star

Actor Prithvi Pandiarajan combines his two great loves – cinema and cricket – in his latest project, Blue Star. Releasing on January 25, 2024, the film stars an ensemble cast including Ashok Selvan, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, and Keerthi Pandian.

Directed by debutant S Jayakumar, Blue Star is produced by Lemon Leaf Creations, and presented by Pa Ranjith under his banner, Neelam Productions. Govind Vasantha composed the soundtrack, and has already garnered plenty of interest on social media.

Set in Arakkonam in the late 1990s, the story revolves around the lives of cricket-crazy young men who are trying to secure their future through the sport. Add rivalries, romance, and politics to the mix, and the result is a compelling sports drama.

Getting into the role of Sam, a cricket-obsessed college student, came easy for Prithvi. He is a seasoned wicketkeeper and batsman in real life, and has showcased his skills in division-level matches and in the Celebrity Cricket League.

However, Blue Star presented him with a new challenge: bowling. “I trained extensively to perfect my fast-bowling technique. I spent hours in the nets to make sure I did justice to my character’s skill. It was the most enjoyable preparation I have done for a role,” says Prithvi.

In addition to his sports training, Prithvi also underwent a massive physical transformation. With a dedicated exercise and nutrition routine, he shed 12kg in just two months. The result was a wiry and youthful look that gives his character the charm of a true 90s kid. To tap into this charm, Prithvi’s character also has a romantic interest, played by Dhivya Duraisamy.

Prithvi says, “I believe that Blue Star is a unique film that will appeal to everyone, whether they love cricket or not. There are multiple layers to the story as it explores the lives of the characters. I’m grateful to director Jayakumar, producers Ganesh Murthy and G Soundarya of Lemon Leaf Creations, and Pa Ranjith sir for the opportunity to play Sam. I look forward to watching the film on the big screen with the audience. I hope they will enjoy Blue Star as much as I enjoyed being part of it.”
