187th State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) Meeting for Tamil Nadu Held on 24.09.2026
The 187th meeting of the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC), Tamil Nadu, was held today, 24.09.2026, at Chennai, to review the performance of the banking sector as of June 2026 in the State and deliberate upon various issues relating to credit flow, financial inclusion and implementation of Government-sponsored schemes.
The meeting was attended by Thiru M. A. Siddique, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), Government of Tamil Nadu; Thiru Dhanaraj T., Executive Director, Indian Overseas Bank & Chairman, SLBC Tamil Nadu; Thiru Y. Jayakumar, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, Chennai; and Thiru H Manoj, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Tamil Nadu.
Various HODs from GoTN including Secretaries and Commissioners of various Departments, senior officials of the Government, Reserve Bank of India and NABARD, senior executives of member banks and Lead District Managers (LDMs) from across the State attended the meeting.
During the special address Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), emphasised that the special focus to be given to disburse more KCC, KCC dairy loans, Agri Infrastructure, Food Processing loans etc. Further he emphasised that -under MSME various model project to be created for the benefit of new entrepreneurs and necessary guidance and haldholding support to be extended by banks and concerned department.
Shri Velayutham K, General Manager, Indian Overseas Bank and Convenor, SLBC Tamil Nadu, presented the agenda and facilitated the deliberations on the various agenda items.
The meeting reviewed the overall performance of banks in Tamil Nadu, with particular focus on credit flow to priority sectors and the progress under various Government-sponsored and financial inclusion schemes. The performance of banks in areas including Agriculture and Allied Activities, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), education loans, housing and other priority sectors was reviewed.
The Committee also deliberated upon various measures to further improve the delivery of banking services, strengthen credit flow to eligible beneficiaries and enhance the effective implementation of Government schemes across the State.
The meeting provided an important platform for constructive interaction among Government Departments, regulatory and developmental institutions, banks and Lead District Managers, with a view to addressing operational issues and strengthening the banking ecosystem in Tamil Nadu.
The SLBC Tamil Nadu reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive, sustainable and broad-based economic growth through enhanced access to institutional credit, effective implementation of Government schemes and improved delivery of banking services across the State.
