Yaathisai movie review

Story:

The film is set in the backdrop of the 7th century and revolves around the story of of a small group of villagers who fought against the Pandiyan king Ranadheera Pandiyan.

The film narrates the story of the Pandiyas, and how the Einar tribe came face to face with them and tried to pull them down.

What happened during the war, who emerged victorious and what happened after the war forms the rest of the story

Analysis:

Director Dharani Rasendran has focussed more on the details presented in the movie, making it interesting for the audience connect with it.

The movie is filled with interesting information and the research carried out by the director is clearly visible on screen.

Despite having no famous faces in the cast, the actors have managed to keep the audience glued to the screen with their performances. Shakthi Mithran and Seyon who play the prominent roles in the movie have delivered sharp performances getting into the skin of their respective characters.

Vaidehi, Samar and Rajalakshmi have all understood their respective characters and have acted accordingly.

With a limited budget, the production value of the film is impressive.

Most of the portions are shot in real locations giving a realistic feel.

Music by Chakravarthy is impressive and adds more authenticity to the movie.

Akilesh Katamuthu’ camera has captured the events in a rae and rustic manner.
