Vijay’s Jana Nayagan set for July 23 release after postponement
After several months of delays, Chief Minister Vijay’s much-awaited film Jana Nayagan is now expected to release in theatres on July 23, according to industry sources. The overseas release is scheduled for July 24.
The film, directed by H. Vinoth, is expected to be Vijay’s final acting project before fully focusing on politics. Reports indicate that theatres in Tamil Nadu will begin screenings at 9 a.m., while audiences in Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana may have access to early morning shows.
The film recently received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Certification documents indicate a runtime of just over three hours, with the board reportedly approving the film after certain modifications.
Originally planned for a January release, the film was delayed following an extended certification process and the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct during the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju in prominent roles alongside Vijay.
