Is this the release date of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan?

Uncertainty continues over the theatrical release date of Jana Nayagan, actor-turned-Chief Minister Vijay’s final film directed by H. Vinoth.

KVN Productions recently confirmed that the film has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification and stated that it will be released in theatres shortly. However, an official release date has not yet been announced.

Ticket booking platforms, including District and Ticketnew, currently display July 24 as the release date, leading to widespread circulation of unofficial promotional material carrying the same date.

Reports also suggest that Sigma, directed by Jason Sanjay, has postponed its planned July 31 release to August, reportedly to avoid a clash if Jana Nayagan arrives earlier.

Originally planned for a Pongal 2026 release, the film was delayed due to certification-related issues. Reports indicated that certain scenes involving communal, religious and military themes were examined during the certification process before the film eventually received clearance. The film also suffered an online piracy leak before its theatrical release.

Jana Nayagan is an adaptation of the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari and features a cast including Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani and Narain. The technical crew includes music composer Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan, editor Pradeep E. Ragav and production designer V. Selvakumar.
