Vijayakanth laid to rest with full state honours
DMDK founder-leader and top yesteryear Tamil action star, Vijayakanth was on Friday laid to rest in Chennai with full state honours after tens of thousands of people paid their last respects.
Vijayakanth, also known as the Captain, was a towering figure in both Tamil Nadu’s politics and ‘Kollywood’.
Prominent leaders present were Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister MK Stalin, GK Vasan and others from major parties like DMK, ADMK, and BJP.
Vijayakanth broke through in a political space primarily dominated by two major parties and made his mark as the chief of DMDK. He also enjoyed a successful film career, admired by fans akin to other stars like Rajnikanth and Kamal Haasan.
This tribute to Captain Vijayakanth underlines the profound influence he had on Tamil Nadu and its people, both as a superstar and a political leader.
