Vijay Sethupathi dismisses casting couch allegations
Actor Vijay Sethupathi has strongly denied recent allegations of sexual misconduct and “casting couch” practices that surfaced on social media.
The claims, initially made by a now-deleted X (formerly Twitter) account under the name Ramya Mohan, quickly went viral.
Sethupathi dismissed the accusations as “filthy” and baseless, stating that anyone who knows him would not take such claims seriously.
He acknowledged that the allegations have upset his family and close friends, but he remains composed, suggesting the person behind the claims is merely seeking attention and momentary fame.
The actor’s team has filed a complaint with the cybercrime unit. He also mentioned that this isn’t the first time he’s faced targeted attacks and smear campaigns, having dealt with similar incidents over the past seven years, but these efforts have never affected him.
The deleted social media post had alleged that a young woman was manipulated and exploited under the pretext of industry practices, and was now undergoing rehabilitation. It claimed Sethupathi offered money for “caravan favors” and “drives” while presenting himself as a saint on social media.
