TVK leader Vijay, who recently wrapped up his extensive election campaign for the Tamil Nadu assembly election held on April 23, visited the Thiruchendur Subramania Swamy Temple on Tuesday in the Thoothukudi district and offered prayers to Lord Murugan. Amidst heavy crowd, the actor was seen presenting flowers to the God.
Following his visit, the temple authorities honoured him with a shawl and a small ‘vel’, symbolic of the divine spear used by the Hindu deity.
He was also given the ‘kumba mariyathai’, with heavy police managing the excited throngs chanting his name and party slogans.
Vijay landed at the Madurai airport at around 1.40 am on Tuesday where he was greeted by a sea of fans. He then proceeded to Thiruchendur via road.
Vijay was seen in a traditional silk veshti and an upper garment in his visit, garnering attention from social media users.
Throughout his election campaign, Vijay has been visiting shrines of various faith. A few days ago, during his campaign in Trichy he visited St Antony’s Church on Wireless Road, where he prayed, lit a candle and also performed a kneel walk.
Later, he went to the Noorul Hudah Mosque in KK Nagar where he was received by authorities and presented with a shawl. Before leaving to Chennai, he prayed at the Kottapattu Pachanachi Amman Temple.
