Vijay has been elected as the leader of the T.V.K. legislative party
The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay has been chosen as the legislative assembly leader by the party in Tamil Nadu.
The party is currently short of the majority mark of one hundred and eighteen seats by ten, which could change to nine if the chief resigns from one of his constituencies.
To bridge this gap, the party is exploring post-poll alliances with the Congress, Left parties, and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi. Sources indicate that the Congress has sent feelers regarding a potential coalition.
However, a DMK representative stated that the Left and VCK will not join the new coalition, though the stance of the Congress remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, the TVK leadership has formally emailed the Governor of Tamil Nadu to seek an appointment to stake a claim to form the state government.
The party will need to secure additional support from other political factions to prove its majority on the floor of the house if demanded by the opposition parties.
