Viduthalai movie review

Story:

Soori is a police constable sent to a police camp based in a village near the Tamilnadu-Karnataka border.

A police camp, headed by Chethan, has been established there in order to catch the key leaders of a terrorist outfit called Makkal Padai headed by Vijay Sethupathi.

Now, politicians have inked a deal with foreign companies for mining in the forest area and the Makkal Padai has taken this up as their latest cause.

Since Chethan doesn’t succeed, in comes senior cop Gautham Vasudev Menon as the head of Operation.

Do the police catch Vijay Sethupathi and his men? How does Soori fit into this whole police hunt for Vijay Sethupathi forms the rest of the story.

Analysis:

Director Vetrimaaran has spoke about police brutality in the movie. There are several layers to the story which unfolds as the movie progresses.

The scenes flow naturally and every character have equal importance. Soori has delivered a stellar performance and fits the role perfectly.

The character undergoes a terrific arc which is effectively portrayed by Soori. Bhavani Sre as Soori’s love interest and a native from the village has delivered a memorable performance which leaves a lasting impression.

Vijay Sethupathi appears in an extended cameo and makes his screen presence felt.

Gautham Menon dons a different role and is quite effective.

Rest of the cast including Chethan have all got into the skin of their respective characters. Ilayaraja’s BGM is effective and Velraj’s camerawork is a major asset.
