Vadivelu’s Maareesan Iinspired by Ramayana?

Vadivelu is set to star in a unique film titled ‘Maareesan’, which draws inspiration from the epic Ramayana—specifically the mysterious deer that lures Sita away from safety.

Directed by Sudheesh Shankar and featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Mareesan also stars Fahadh Faasil alongside Vadivelu. The film’s shooting has been completed, and post-production is currently underway.

Recent reports have revealed key details about the story. The film follows the characters Velan (played by Vadivelu) and Daya (played by Fahadh Faasil) as they embark on a road trip from Nagercoil to Pollachi, filled with quirky and unexpected adventures.

While the journey is comedic on the surface, it gradually reveals deeper mythological parallels.

At the heart of the plot lies the character Maareesan, based on the mythical figure Mareesan (often referred to as the golden deer) from the Ramayana, who deceives Sita and leads to her abduction.

The film cleverly weaves this mythological element into a modern narrative, with the true identity of the ‘deer’ character reportedly revealed at intermission.
