Union Minister Amit Shah to take part in BJP election meeting in Madurai on 8 June

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Madurai on June 8.

During his visit, he will participate in a public meeting at Othakadai and hold discussions with senior BJP leaders from Tamil Nadu’s southern districts.

The visit is part of the BJP’s preparations for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Shah is expected to strategize with party officials to strengthen the BJP’s presence in the region.

There is also speculation that Shah may meet with former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam (OPS) and AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran during his visit. Although both leaders were not met during Shah’s previous visit to Chennai, their inclusion in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) remains a topic of discussion.

Shah’s visit follows the DMK’s recent general council meeting in Madurai, where Chief Minister M.K. Stalin criticized the AIADMK’s alliance with the BJP and emphasized Tamil Nadu’s autonomy.

Security arrangements are being made to ensure the smooth conduct of the events during Shah’s visit.
