TN government approves metro rail connectivity from Koyambedu to Pattabiram

The Tamil Nadu govt has granted in-principle approval for a new Chennai Metro Rail corridor connecting Koyambedu to Pattabiram (Outer Ring Road).

The 21.76km stretch, estimated to cost ₹9,928.33 crore at 2025 prices, will include three flyovers and 19 stations along the route. This includes Ambattur Estate, Dunlop, OT, Thirumullaivoyal, Avadi, Hindu College and Pattabiram.

The project will include highways component of ₹464 crore for construction of three flyovers, the release said.

The government also approved the Detailed Project Report on the project, and recommended the same to the Centre for its approval and funding on equity sharing basis and for availing loan assistance from bilateral/multilateral funding agencies, the order said.

The state govt has now recommended the DPR to the Centre for final approval and funding arrangements.
