Tirumala Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavam Begins with Grand Devotional Celebrations

The auspicious Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavam of Lord Sri Venkateswara (Balaji) commenced today at Tirumala and will continue until September 23, 2026, drawing lakhs of devotees from across India to seek the divine blessings of Lord Sri Balaji Swamy.
The annual Brahmotsavam, celebrated during the Tamil month of Purattasi, holds immense spiritual and religious significance. The festival is considered one of the most important annual celebrations at the sacred Tirumala temple and is renowned for its grandeur, devotion and rich Vaishnavite traditions.
A unique feature associated with the temple’s sacred traditions is the Mangaladasanam of the ten Alwars, including Sri Andal. The contributions and sacred services rendered by Jagadacharya Sri Ramanuja to the Tirumala temple and Sri Vaishnava tradition are also remembered with great reverence.
The Brahmotsavam features the majestic procession of Lord Sri Balaji on various Vahana Sevas every morning and evening. Devotees will have the opportunity to witness the Lord’s divine processions accompanied by devotional and cultural programmes presented by participants from different parts of India.
Key Dates of Salakatla Brahmotsavam 2026
- September 14: Ankurarpanam – Traditional prelude to the Brahmotsavam
- September 15: Dwajarohanam – Flag-hoisting ceremony marking the commencement of the Brahmotsavam
- September 19: Garuda Seva – One of the most significant and grand Vahana Sevas
- September 22: Rathotsavam – Grand Chariot Festival
- September 23: Conclusion of the Brahmotsavam celebrations
Vahana Seva Timings
The morning Vahana processions are generally scheduled between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, while the evening processions are usually held between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
The highly anticipated Garuda Seva will be held from approximately 6:30 PM to 11:30 PM, attracting an exceptionally large number of devotees.
With lakhs of devotees expected to visit Tirumala during the festival, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and the Andhra Pradesh Police Department have made extensive arrangements for crowd management, security, transportation, sanitation, accommodation and other essential services.
The sacred Brahmotsavam provides devotees with a spiritually enriching opportunity to witness the divine splendour of Lord Sri Venkateswara and participate in one of the most magnificent annual celebrations of the Tirumala temple.
