Tight security in Tiruchi as city gears up for CM Vijay’s first visit after taking office

Tiruchi is witnessing heightened security and extensive preparations ahead of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s first official visit to the city today since assuming office.

The Chief Minister is expected to arrive at Tiruchi International Airport from Chennai today afternoon, where government officials and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leaders will receive him. From the airport, he is scheduled to travel through key city routes in an open vehicle as part of a public thanksgiving tour to acknowledge the support extended to him and his party during the recent Assembly elections.

The procession will conclude at the grounds of St. Joseph’s College, where a large stage and seating arrangements have been prepared for thousands of attendees. Vijay is expected to address the gathering and thank voters from the Tiruchi East constituency for electing him to the State Assembly.

Party supporters are anticipated to gather in significant numbers along the route. To manage the crowds, barricades have been installed at several locations, and party flags have been displayed across the 13-kilometre stretch connecting the airport and the venue.

Authorities have implemented an extensive security plan for the visit. More than 2,500 police personnel from various districts have reportedly been deployed, including senior officers from multiple ranks. Security teams have been stationed at strategic points throughout the city to ensure the event proceeds without disruption.
