The press meet of Gandhi Kannadi Movie

KPY Bala’s Hero Debut Gandhi Kannadi Set for September 5 Release, Trailer Creates Buzz Despite Clash with Sivakarthikeyan’s Madharaasi

Comedy favorite and television star KPY Bala, admired for his quick wit and strong presence in social service, is now stepping into cinema as a hero with Gandhi Kannadi. Directed by Sharif, the film features Namitha Krishnamoorthy in a key role and is gearing up for release on September 5.

The trailer, unveiled on 27th Aug.25 has already won hearts across social media. Viewers are impressed with Bala’s natural comic timing and the freshness of the storyline, which blends humor with an emotional touch. Many fans expressed excitement at seeing Bala in a lead role, calling the trailer both entertaining and promising. With this positive buzz, expectations for Gandhi Kannadi are steadily building.

However, the release date has drawn attention since it coincides with Sivakarthikeyan’s highly anticipated film Madharaasi. The prospect of a box-office clash between a debutant’s project and a superstar’s big release has become a talking point in Kollywood.

At the film’s press meet, director Sharif clarified the decision behind the date:

“We wrapped up shooting on time, and the producer suggested September 5. Initially, I thought it was just a casual remark, but we also had to consider OTT timelines. It was never a planned clash with Sivakarthikeyan’s film. Our hope is simple—if audiences don’t get tickets for Madharaasi, they might give Gandhi Kannadi a chance.”

Bala, known for his humility, echoed this sentiment with respect:

“My movie cannot compete with Siva Annan’s film. His projects are always big and successful. Still, I believe our film will reach the people and find its audience.”

With promotions actively underway, Gandhi Kannadi is positioning itself as a light-hearted entertainer that carries Bala’s trademark humor while showcasing him in a new avatar. Despite sharing its release window with a major star’s film, the team remains optimistic. If the trailer’s response is any indication, Bala’s debut could turn into a pleasant surprise for Tamil cinema audiences.
