“Thanal will be an emotional tug of war with ample action and unexpected twists” – Director Ravindra Madhava

Kollywood is witnessing a season of blessings, as content-driven films continue to win phenomenal response from audiences. Adding to this wave, the much-awaited Atharvaa Murali starrer Thanal is set to deliver a cinematic experience. Directed by Ravindra Madhava and produced by M. John Peter under Annai Film Production, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on September 12.

With Atharvaa Murali’s star power soaring higher with every outing, especially after the recent blockbuster DNA, which continues to dominate both theatres and OTT, the expectations for Thanal have multiplied.

Speaking about the film, director Ravindra Madhava shares, “Thanal will be an emotional tug of war with ample action and unexpected twists. It’s about two people firmly rooted in their ideologies, unwilling to give up no matter what. The story follows an ex-army man, fuelled by a lifetime of suffering, embarking on a vengeful quest, until a police constable with a painful past, transformed into a dutiful son, stands in his way.”

On casting, the director reveals, “While penning the script, I knew the protagonist had to embody both innocence and fury, a young man determined to stop at nothing. Atharvaa Murali was the natural choice, as he effortlessly brings depth to such roles. For the ex-army role, I wanted an actor with the same layered traits. After much thought, Ashwin Kakamanu was my pick, and I’m certain the audience will celebrate his performance.”

The film features Lavanya Tripathi as the female lead, alongside Sha Ra, Bhaarath, Lakshmi Priya, and Azhagam Perumal in pivotal roles.

The technical crew boasts a strong lineup: Justin Prabhakaran (Music), Sakthi Saravanan (Cinematography), Kalaivannan R (Editing), Karthik Netha (Lyrics), Hari Kiran (Choreography), S. Ayyapan (Art), and R. Sakthi Saravanan (Stunts).

With its gripping narrative, powerhouse performances, and a blend of emotions and action, Thanal is all set to strike a chord with audiences worldwide.
