Tamilnadu government asks Union government to ban ‘The Family Man 2’ series
After the trailer of the upcoming ‘The Family Man 2′ was dropped by the makers, it has created quite a buzz. Along with the buzz, the trailer has also kickstarted a controversy after people raised objections over the way Tamil Tigers were projected in the series.
Now the Tamilnadu government has written to the Union Government seeking a ban on the series. In the letter, the state government opined that the struggle of the Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka was distorted in the series.
In the letter shot to Centre, Tamilnadu IT Minister T Mano Thangaraj said that the content in the series was condemnable and inappropriate in the manner and claimed that the trailer of the series had discredited Eelam Tamils’ struggle.
“I would like to state that the above serial has not only hurt the sentiments of Eelam Tamils but also the feelings of the people of Tamil Nadu in large-scale and if allowed to broadcast, it would be prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony in the state,” the IT Minister said.
“While our brethren Eelam Tamils are struggling for decades to enjoy the fruits of equality, justice, peace and dignity in the island nation, it is highly unwarranted for an organisation like Amazon Prime to undertake this kind of a smear campaign against the Tamils who are builder of India as well as many nations across the globe,” he added in the letter.
