Tamil Nadu signs new investment deals with global firms and foreign university in the presence of CM Vijay

The Tamil Nadu government has entered into four fresh Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with international companies and an overseas university, strengthening the state’s efforts to attract investment in manufacturing, research, technology and higher education.

Among the key announcements, German wind energy company Nordex will establish a research and development centre in Chennai, while Swiss insurance major Chubb plans to set up its first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Tamil Nadu.

The state also signed an agreement with the University of Western Australia to establish the institution’s India campus in Chennai. The proposed campus, coming up in Velachery on around 50,000 square feet with an estimated investment of ₹125 crore, is expected to create over 200 jobs. It will be the first foreign university campus in Tamil Nadu to be established under the University Grants Commission’s 2023 regulations governing overseas higher educational institutions.

Another agreement was signed with South Korean automotive components manufacturer MotiveLink. The company will invest around ₹300 crore to build a manufacturing facility at the SIPCOT Industrial Estate in Pillaipakkam, Kanchipuram district. The project is expected to generate nearly 1,500 jobs and manufacture electric vehicle components such as coils, printed circuit boards, magnetic parts, housings and filters.

The investment follows the Tamil Nadu Industries Minister’s visit to South Korea in June 2026 and is expected to strengthen the Sriperumbudur-Oragadam automobile cluster by bringing advanced EV component technology to the region. The facility will primarily support the supply chains of Hyundai and Kia.

The agreements were signed in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at the Guidance Tamil Nadu office in Chennai. According to the state government, the four projects together are expected to create close to 3,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. The Chief Minister said the investments support Tamil Nadu’s goal of encouraging innovation-led industrial growth, attracting global intellectual property investments and creating skilled jobs for young professionals.
