Tamil Nadu government assigns ministers as district in-charge officials
The Tamil Nadu government led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Wednesday announced the allocation of district responsibilities to 34 Cabinet Ministers, covering all 38 districts across the state. The move is aimed at strengthening administrative coordination and accelerating the implementation of government initiatives at the district level.
According to the official order, Rural Development and Water Resources Minister N. Anand will oversee Villupuram and Cuddalore districts, while Public Works and Sports Development Minister Aadhav Arjuna has been entrusted with Chennai and Tiruvannamalai.
Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Minister K.G. Arunraj has been assigned Tiruppur district. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan will supervise Erode district.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister P. Venkataramanan will be responsible for Mayiladuthurai, whereas Energy Resources and Law Minister R. Nirmalkumar will coordinate activities in Madurai and Theni districts.
School Education, Tamil Development, Information and Publicity Minister Rajmohan has been given charge of Perambalur district. Natural Resources Minister T.K. Prabhu will oversee Sivaganga.
Industries Minister S. Keerthana has been appointed in charge of Krishnagiri, while Higher Education Minister P. Viswanathan will supervise Tiruvarur. Tourism Minister S. Rajesh Kumar has been assigned Kanniyakumari, Minorities Welfare Minister A.M. Shahjahan Nagapattinam, and Social Justice Minister Vanni Arasu Kallakurichi.
Transport Minister A. Vijay Tamilan Parthiban will oversee Salem district. Housing and Urban Development Minister B. Rajkumar has been assigned both Dharmapuri and Ariyalur districts.
Backward Classes Welfare Minister V. Sampath Kumar has been designated for Coimbatore. Handlooms, Textiles and Khadi Minister M. Vijay Balaji will supervise Vellore, while Prohibition and Excise Minister K. Vignesh has been assigned Dindigul.
Non-Resident Tamils Welfare Minister K. Thennarasu will oversee Kancheepuram district. Labour Welfare and Skill Development Minister J. Mohamed Farvas has been given charge of Pudukottai, and Co-operation Minister V. Gandhiraj will coordinate activities in Ranipet.
Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Minister K. Jegadeshwari has been appointed for Virudhunagar district, while Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Vinoth will oversee Thanjavur. Milk and Dairy Development Minister C. Vijayalakshmi has been assigned Karur, and Human Resources Management Minister D. Sarathkumar will supervise Chengalpattu.
Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister Ramesh has been designated for Tiruchi district. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister P. Mathan Raja will oversee Ramanathapuram, Finance, Planning and Development Minister N. Marie Wilson has been assigned Tirunelveli, Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare Minister Srinath will coordinate activities in Thoothukudi, and Animal Husbandry Minister S. Kamali will be responsible for The Nilgiris.
Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology and Digital Services Minister R. Kumar has been allotted Tiruvallur district. Forests Minister R.V. Ranjithkumar will oversee Tirupattur, Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister D. Logesh Tamilselvan has been assigned Namakkal, and Environment and Climate Change Minister Rajeev will supervise Tenkasi district.
The government order stated that the ministers designated for each district will work closely with District Collectors, Monitoring Officers and other local officials. Their responsibilities include reviewing development projects, ensuring effective delivery of welfare programmes, monitoring public services and coordinating relief measures during emergencies and natural disasters.
