Tamil Nadu announces 4% DA hike for state govt employees

Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced that the Dearness Allowance of state government employees, teachers and pensioners will be hiked by 4%.

According to the order the DA has been increased from present 46% to 50% with effect from 01.01.2024, on par with that of union government staff.

This will cause an additional expenditure of Rs 2587.91 crores for the exchequer.

‘Chief Minister Stalin has ordered to implement
of this order with effect from 1.1.2024 after
giving due consideration to the request of
government officials and teachers for the
increase of Dearness Allowance.

The hike will benefit 16 lakh government officials, teachers,
pensioners, and family pensioners,” the
statement from the Tamil Nadu government
read.

Following the decision of the Central Cabinet meeting to give a 4 per cent increase in the Dearness Allowance to the central government employees from last January, the leaders of various political parties have been urging that the Tamil Nadu government employees should also be given a 4 per cent increase in the Dearness Allowance.
