Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy: Freedom flavour
Big, grand and massive. These words would describe Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, the tale of a freedom fighter which has been presented on screen on a mammoth scale.
Though the story is a little alien to Tamil audience, since it is about a brave man who lived in the Telugu land, things are compensated well by the presence of Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Tamannah etc.
And what more? The Tamil version has voices of the likes of Kamal Haasan and Arvind Swamy as value addition, giving us native feel. All these things, coupled by Chiranjeevi’s performance and the grand budget, make watching Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy a visual delight.
The story is about the life of freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy from the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. He is the first to fight against the British from the Telugu region.
Chiranjeevi is the heart and soul of the movie and we understand why he is celebrated by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana people. Despite age factor, he has taken pains to deliver goods. Amitabh Bachchan is there in a cameo, while the huge star cast includes Sudeep, Vijay Sethupathi, Tamannaah, and Jagapati Babu.
Music by Amit Trivedi and Julius Packiam adds more grandness to the stunning visuals of Rathnavelu. Sreekar Prasad’s editing is another advantage. A good research has gone into the script and director Surender Reddy should be lauded for this.
Chiranjeevi’s son and Tollywood top star Ram Charan, who has bankrolled this flick, has ensured that each and everything is grand. On that front, it is not just a tribute to his father, but also to the great freedom fighter.
