The less said will be better when it comes to the story of Super Deluxe. The film, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, is a mix of four different tales that meet at one point.
There is a couple- Mukil (Fahadh Faasil) and Vembu, who are in a situation that tests their marital relationship. Leela (Ramya Krishnan), a former porn actress, is trying hard to save the life of her injured son.
A man (Vijay Sethupathi) becomes a transwoman Shilpa and his wife Jothi (Gayathrie) is hurt. Arputham (Mysskin), after facing a near death experience in tsunami, turns a religious nut.
There are a bunch of teenagers who are driven by sexual desires. And there is a heartless, wicked and horny police officer (Bhagavathi Perumal). What connects these people?
Even after seven long years, Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s debut venture Aaranya Kaandam remains fresh in the minds of cinema lovers and is still being debated and discussed.
And, with his second venture Super Deluxe, the filmmaker goes several notches higher. He has presented a movie that belongs to all genres- it’s quirky, sexy, touching, emotional, philosophical and what not.
Vijay Sethupathi or Shilpa deserves a bouquet for a beautiful portrayal. And Samantha deserves another for this is her best performance till date. Ramya Krishnan, Fahadh Faasil, Mysskin, Gayathrie, Bhagavathi Perumal, everyone, has lived up to their characters.
All the four script writers- Mysskin, Nalan Kumarasamy, Neelan K Sekar and Thiagarajan Kumararaja – have shared a common vision which has been beautifully put together as a film by Thiagarajan Kumararaja.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has spoken with both his music and silence, while cinematography by P S Vinod and Nirav Shah is of top notch. Sathyarajan Natarajan’s editing speaks volumes.
Though certain scenes look disjointed, Thiagarajan Kumararaja has served a heady dish that speaks about human beings, relationships and moreover, life, in a novel and gripping manner.
Super Deluxe – Superb Experience
