Manithan Tamil Movie Review
Sakthi (Udhayanidhi Stalin) is a small time lawyer who wants to make it big in his profession. He also wants to impress his love interest Priya (Hansika). In a bid to achieve his dream, he relocates from Pollachi to Chennai.
At the high court here, he is forced to take up a high-profile hit-and-run case. And he is pitted against Adhiseshan (Prakash Raj), the biggest criminal lawyer of the country.
Is Sakthi able to win the case? Did he get justice to the victims? And is he able to achieve his dream of making it big in his profession besids winning over his lady love? Manithan has got answers to these questions.
No doubt, Manithan is till date the best movie of Udhayanidhi. As an actor, he has improved a lot and perhaps for the first time (or second time, if you include Gethu), has taken up a serious subject in his hand.
Sans Santhanam, Udhayanidhi shines bright as a struggling advocate. Hansika is your regular heroine, while it’s Prakash Raj who steals the show with a stellar performance. Radha Ravi, Aishwarya Rajesh and others too perform well.
Director Ahmed of Vamanan and Endrendrum Punnagai fame has remade Hindi hit Jolly LLB as an interesting courtroom drama in Tamil. At the same time, many scenes in this flick are predictable and songs are an overdose.
But the screenplay is strong and the movie’s other assets are dialogues (Ajayan Bala), cinematography (Madhie) and music (Santhosh Narayanan). All these put together make Manithan a watchable fare.
