ANALYSIS
No doubt, Manithan is till date the best movie of Udhayanidhi. As an actor, he has improved a lot and perhaps for the first time (or second time, if you include Gethu), has taken up a serious subject in his hand.
Sans Santhanam, Udhayanidhi shines bright as a struggling advocate. Hansika is your regular heroine, while it’s Prakash Raj who steals the show with a stellar performance. Radha Ravi, Aishwarya Rajesh and others too perform well.
Director Ahmed of Vamanan and Endrendrum Punnagai fame has remade Hindi hit Jolly LLB as an interesting courtroom drama in Tamil. At the same time, many scenes in this flick are predictable and songs are an overdose.
But the screenplay is strong and the movie’s other assets are dialogues (Ajayan Bala), cinematography (Madhie) and music (Santhosh Narayanan). All these put together make Manithan a watchable fare.
