K13 Movie Review

STORY:

Madhiazhagan (Arulnithi) wants to become a filmmaker, but he is unable to succeed in his mission. One day, when he is drunk at a pub, he comes across Malarvizhi (Shraddha Srinath).

Malarvizhi is a self-obsessed writer and Madhiazhagan accompanies her to her place. The next day, when he wakes up, he finds himself tied to a chair and Malarvizhi murdered.

With difficulty, Madhiazhagan recollects things that happened since last night. He also starts searching her room to know more about her and tries his best to clear off evidences about his presence there.

Soon, he starts listening to conversations from the neighbours of Malarvizhi and decides to escape from the place before he gets caught. Is he able to do that? And, who killed Malarvizhi?

ANALYSIS:

Arulnithi, after the successful Iravukku Aayiram Kangal, has pulled it off in another whodunit thriller in K13, directed by techie-turned-filmmaker Barath Neelakantan.

Shraddha Srinath is good at portraying emotions and she proves it once again in K13. Yogi Babu appears in a brief role and does complete justice to it.

G K Vishnu’s cinematography is one of the highlights of the movie. Equally good is Sam C S’s music and Ruben’s editing. The director has done his homework right in presenting a gripping thriller.

Despite the screenplay being tight, we can’t avoid the feel that things could have been more interesting. But, still, K13 is a decent thriller and it’s technically slick too.
