Jarugandi Tamil Movie Review

STORY:

Sathya (Jai) hails from a lower middle class family, which includes his mother and sister, and finds it difficult to make ends meet. He is ready to go to any extent to make money.

Sathya and his friend Paari (Daniel Annie Pope) forge documents and obtain bank loan worth Rs 50 lakh with the help of a broker Samuel (Ilavarasu) to start a travels company.

A corrupt cop (Bose Venkat) smells this and threatens Sathya to give him Rs 10 lakh or else to face legal action. Following this, Sathya tries his best to earn Rs 10 lakh.

He comes across a rich businessman Gajendran (Robo Shankar), who says he will give Rs 10 lakh if Sathya and Paari help him enter wedlock with Keerthy (Reba Monica) with whom he is in madly love with.

Sathya kidnaps Keerthi and also realises that she has been targeted by a human trafficking gang. Will he be able to save Keerthi and escape from the police office as well?

ANALYSIS:

Jarugandi, directed by Pichumani and produced by actor Nitin Sathya with Jai playing the lead, is about an ordinary man is an extra-ordinary situation.

Though the storyline is familiar, the treatment by Pichumani and the performance by Jai, Daniel and Robo Shankar makes all the difference. But still, we can’t avoid the feel that things could have been much better.

Jai looks dull though he makes some genuine efforts to perform well. Reba looks beautiful but needs to improve her performance. Daniel, Robo Shankar and Bose Venkat lend solid support.

The biggest plus points of the movie are RD Rajasekar’s camera and Bobo Sashi’s songs. Editor Praveen K L has done a neat job in the film which runs for little more than two hours.

Jarugandi has its own moments which keep us engaged and entertained. But the screenplay could have been more racier.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5
