STORY:
Dinesh (Roshan) is an intelligent kid who stands first in studies as well as in extra curricular activities. He wants to spend time at his grandparents’ place and to play with his friends.
However, after coming to know about his sharp acumen, his father (Aadukalam Naren) restricts him a lot and wants him to focus only on studies and on nothing else.
Left with no other option, Dinesh, who is under immense pressure from his father, puts his full concentration on studies. He grows up and joins a company.
In his office, his boss gives him unrealistic targets and puts pressure on Dinesh to work more and more. At one point of time, due to lack of rest and relaxation, Dinesh suffers from a brain freeze.
ANALYSIS:
Genius, directed by Susienthiran, is a message oriented movie that tells the audience not just to focus on studies and work, but also to give some relaxation to the mind.
Roshan, who has played the lead role, has done what the director has asked him to. We can expect he would improve his skills in his future ventures. Priyaa Lal is beautiful and performs too, while Aadukalam Naren and Meera Krishnan deliver strong performance.
Yuvan Shankar Raja’s musical score does the much needed magic to the movie, which often threatens to fall flat thanks to its narration. Cinematography and other technical departments are okay.
Susienthiran, who gave us in the past memorable movies like Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, Naan Mahan Alla, Azhagar Saamyin Kuthirai and Pandiya Naadu seems to be not in his full form since his last film Nenjil Thunivirundhal.
Though Genius, which is a mix of both positive and negative features, marks his comeback in a small way, let us hope he would be back with a bang in his upcoming flicks.
